W&W > Based On A True Story (Soundcheck)

The future of dance music is happening now. The next generation of EDM producers is stepping up, with W&W bearing the flag of today's promise. No need to wait much longer. After merely 4 years of warming up, the duo sets things alight with the long-awaited debut album 'Impact'.
Though there's plenty of challenges left on their to-do list, Dutch producers Willem van Hanegem and Ward van der Harst no longer play the game of rookies. W&W met up at the infamous Trance Energy event in 2007, to witness their first collaboration 'Mustang' blow away that same crowd only a year later. A unique sound, fusing the melody of trance and electrifying beat of electro with the energy of techno, was born. Now, three years later, the duo has solidified into one of the freshest, most exciting electronic dance acts on the scene. W&W originals 'Arena', 'Mainstage', 'Alpha' and 'AK-47' were instant favourites, as well as their remixes for Armin van Buuren, Marcel Woods, Allure and Aly & Fila. The energetic sets they played at events such as Trance Energy, Tomorrowland and A State of Trance 450 and 500, several Global Gathering events and Nature One to name a few, along with their weekly 'Mainstage' radio show, resulted in a new entry at number 71 of last year's DJ Mag Top 100.
The musical journey has taken them far, but Willem and Ward have only just begun. The fields of dance industry stretch out in front of them and they don't hesitate to take the next step. 'Impact' is going to be that step. The debut album has been in the making 1,5 years, pushing the boundaries of everything danceable. W&W:"For 'Impact', we tried many different new styles, sounds and tricks. We were able to implement a lot of those into our sound. Unique is the key word in this process and the album turned out exactly as we wanted it to be!"
'Impact' is an album bursting with energy, riding the characteristic sounds of W&W's musical fusion. You'll be surprised to find minimal, techno, progressive, trance and even some dubstep coming together as one, creating balance in variety. Including collabs with producers like Ummet Ozcan, Leon Bolier, Wezz Devall, Mark Sixma and vocalists Bree, Emily and Ana Criado, but based upon the powerful force of W&W, this is one album you can't miss. 'Impact' has everything today's dance society needs.
